Privacy policy
Tampa CIP is a free app from The Valerin Group, Inc. (“Valerin”, “we”) for the City of Tampa capital improvement projects Valerin works on. This policy covers the Tampa CIP app for iPhone and iPad and this website, tampacip.app. Last updated October 23, 2026.
In short
- You don’t need an account, and the app never asks for your name unless you send a message.
- We don’t sell your information, show ads, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
- The app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, so we can see what people use and fix problems.
- If you turn on notifications, our notification service keeps which projects and alert types you follow.
- Your favorites and settings stay on your device.
What the app collects
Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
The app records what you do in it: the screens you view, the projects, phases, pages and alerts you open, the website links, documents and videos you tap, and when you favorite a project or turn notifications on or off. Events about a project name the project, never you. With them come your device model, operating system and app version, and an approximate location (a city or region) that Google works out from your IP address. The app doesn’t use your device’s location for this.
Each install has a random app instance ID, so we can count people without knowing who they are. The app doesn’t use your device’s advertising identifier or vendor identifier, never asks to track you, and has Google’s ad features turned off. Nothing you type, such as a search or a message, is sent.
Crash reports (Sentry)
When the app crashes, freezes or something goes wrong, it sends a report to Sentry: what failed, the screen and project you were on, the steps just before it, your device model, operating system and app version, and a random ID for the install. For a sample of launches it also sends how long the app and its screens took to load. Sentry is set not to store your IP address, and reports include nothing personal.
Notifications (OneSignal)
If you allow notifications, the app registers your device with OneSignal, which sends our alerts. To send you only what you asked for, OneSignal keeps a notification token for your device, the projects you favorited and whether their notifications are on, and the alert types you chose (such as construction notices or traffic alerts). OneSignal also records basic details it needs to deliver notifications, such as your device type, operating system, language and time zone. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app’s Settings or in your device’s Settings.
Messages you send (contact form)
When you send a message to a project team, the app sends your first and last name, your email address and/or phone number, your message, and any photos you add. They’re emailed to that project’s team so they can reply. Resend delivers the email for us; we don’t store your message anywhere else. Photos are resized and their location and camera details are removed before they leave your device.
On your device only
Your favorite projects, notification choices, appearance setting, which alerts you’ve read, and a saved copy of the project information (so the app works offline) are kept on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.
This website
tampacip.app doesn’t use cookies or analytics. Its host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. Links to a project (tampacip.app/projects/…) take you to that project’s own website, which has its own privacy policy.
Who handles your information
We share information only with the service providers named above, who handle it for us: Google (Firebase Analytics), Sentry, OneSignal, Resend and Vercel. Each has its own privacy policy: Firebase, Sentry, OneSignal, Resend and Vercel. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
The project information in the app comes from Valerin and the project websites. The app links to those websites and to documents on them; when you open one, that website’s privacy policy applies.
Your choices
- Turn notifications off in the app’s Settings, or in Settings › Notifications › Tampa CIP on your device.
- Delete the app to remove everything it keeps on your device.
- To ask what we hold about you or to have it deleted (for example a message you sent, or your notification record), email development@valerin-group.com.
Children
Tampa CIP isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change what the app collects, we’ll update this page and the date above before the change reaches the app.
